Sonant Traces is a site-responsive work for choir and low strings ensemble - one of six site-specific performance works commissioned especially for the re-opening of White Bay Power Station. Sonant Traces is a work designed to be experienced by an audience moving through the space and listening to the way the music interacts with the Turbine Hall. Curious listeners encountered 50 singers and a sextet of rumbling cellists and double bassists navigating through the three distinct phases that make up the work. The work is inspired by White Bay Power Station’s history and its significance as a place of connection for many.
